Our Story

Dreamspire Foundation was born out of a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with additional needs and their families. Shazia Kimatrai, inspired by a blend of personal experiences, professional expertise, and a passion for meaningful change, recognised a significant gap in support services. Particularly for those struggling to access timely, tailored, and sustained care.

Growing up with a family member with a disability, Shazia gained first-hand insight into the daily struggles, advocacy battles, and emotional toll experienced by many families. As she progressed through her academic and professional journey, she encountered countless individuals with speech, language, and behavioural challenges who were unable to access the services they needed due to financial barriers, systemic limitations, and long waitlists.

Determined to create a solution, Shazia sought out like-minded individuals who shared her passion and lived experiences. Together, they envisioned a foundation that would remove barriers, provide equitable access to therapy and support, and foster a community of inclusivity and empowerment.

Dreamspire Foundation addresses a critical gap in support services for individuals with disabilities and developmental challenges, particularly those facing financial hardship. Many of these individuals are unable to access necessary services, such as therapy, social integration programs, and advocacy support, due to the high costs or lack of availability in their regions. This lack of access can lead to significant social isolation, developmental stagnation, and deteriorating mental health, both for individuals and their families.

Currently, there are limited resources dedicated to helping those who fall outside existing support frameworks, such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), or who face barriers in accessing the full benefits of those services. Dreamspire Foundation is designed to fill this gap, offering benevolent relief to individuals in need, whether they are struggling due to financial distress, limited services in their area, or lack of advocacy to navigate the complex systems available to them.

The Foundation’s mission is to provide therapy funding and social integration opportunities to these underserved individuals, enabling them to develop life skills, engage with their communities, and achieve better overall well-being. Without Dreamspire, many of these individuals may continue to fall through the cracks, unable to access the critical support they need to thrive.

Additionally, Dreamspire plays a crucial role in raising awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities through community-driven fundraising events and corporate partnerships. These efforts are not just about raising money but also about educating the broader public and advocating for systemic change to make services more accessible for all. By bringing the community together, the Foundation aims to foster inclusivity, understanding, and support for those living with disabilities.

Moreover, Dreamspire Foundation is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in all its operations. The structured selection criteria for beneficiaries, coupled with the Foundation's stringent governance practices, ensure that resources are allocated equitably and responsibly. A board of directors oversees all decisions, ensuring that no private benefits accrue to any individual, and conflicts of interest are properly managed. Decisions regarding funding disbursement are made based on clear, predefined criteria to guarantee that those most in need receive support. This robust framework promotes trust and integrity within the organisation.

With sustainable fundraising at the core of its long-term strategy, Dreamspire Foundation will continue to provide these essential services to more individuals over time, expanding its reach and impact across Australia. Fundraising initiatives, such as charity events, corporate partnerships, and individual giving programs, are critical to maintaining the Foundation’s ability to offer benevolent relief. Without consistent and strategic fundraising efforts, Dreamspire Foundation would not be able to provide the much-needed support to individuals and families who depend on these services.

Dreamspire Foundation was born as there are many individuals who desperately require help but are not receiving it due to financial barriers, geographical isolation, or limited access to services. Dreamspire Foundation steps in to offer these individuals a lifeline, providing them with the support and opportunities necessary to improve their quality of life and participate more fully in their communities. Through its holistic approach to fundraising, service provision, and advocacy, Dreamspire Foundation ensures that no one is left behind.
